That's tempting. Every once in a while I re-watch the show via my DVD collection. Preferred, since it can be viewed sans laugh track. I don't think you can do that via the digital/iTunes versions.

While I absolutely LOVED the early seasons, I couldn't take the later seasons, even for free. Talk about a series that ran waaaaaay past it's freshness date. I'll pass on this one.

Mr. Lahey: A lot of people, don’t know how to drink. They drink against the grain of the liquor. And when you drink against the grain of the liquor? You lose.

Randy: What the @#$%& are you talking about?

I have a question about this. Was the show made with pauses after punch lines to accommodate a laugh track, or was it done straight with no pauses? Those are actual choices when audience laughter from any source is taken into consideration. (and the people who made it were certainly pros.)

Similarly, Alan Alda has stated that he does not talk like Hawkeye Pierce. Hawkeye Pierce talks like Larry Gelbart.

Here's Gelbart's obituary which talks about his all-time record string of hits on TV, Radio, Movies and Broadway. ==> [www.latimes.com]
