Old iBook G4, new problem
Posted by: Surfrider

I use this ancient iBook at my shop to output color seps.

The trackpad has been getting slower lately, sometimes it won't move at all.

I'm not sure how to get it back up to speed.

Other than the trackpad, it has been working normally.

No new hardware or softwear.

Anyone know the cure?

Battery swelling? Try removing the battery and seeing if it works while plugged in.

You could use an external mouse/trackpad.

When was the last time you opened it up and cleaned it out? (dust, dander, etc)

Make it a good day today.

Look up how to take apart and clean the trackpad - or replace it - or replace the iBook.

I had a $10 off card from Staples so I went and bought a mouse for 3 bucks and change.

Thanks for the advice, wouldn't hurt to clean it.

I can’t believe nobody has taken this opportunity to indulge in nostalgia and suggest zapping the p-ram. :-)
