Police discover that missing man was eaten by his dogs - not Florida

“The bone pieces found on the man’s overgrown trailer-and-shed property were suspicious. But the truth didn’t hit the sheriff’s deputies until they inspected some dog feces and found what looked like human hair and bits of clothes.

Freddie Mack had been eaten by his only companions at his rural home near Venus, Tex.: his 18 dogs.

“Our initial reaction was kind of disbelief, because there was nothing left,” Johnson County Sheriff Adam King told The Washington Post.

It’s surprisingly common for animals to eat human remains, King said.

But the whole body, clothes and all?”

“But Mack’s case stands out for the thoroughness with which the dogs ate him. His family members have been notified of the findings of the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office that the remains were Mack’s, based on a family DNA match, the sheriff’s office said.

As for the dogs, 13 have been destroyed because of their aggression and the mounting evidence that they might have killed their owner. Two had already been killed by other dogs.

The other three are still around. “They were friendly,” King said.”

I'd be cool with my dogs eating me. They'd only do it out love and hunger. Plus you live to feed them.

So they are just speculating that a dog may have killed him: what would “mounting evidence” be at this point? Or he could have been killed trying to break up a fight among the dogs.. He could have just died. In any case, if I dropped dead in front of my pets, I’d much rather that they ate me than that they starved.

My life goes smoothly and in regular intervals

“For hungry eyes that could not speak
Said even little doggies have got to eat

She was a winner
That became a doggie's dinner”...

Nick Lowe for the win!

Once we place nonhuman animals outside our sphere of moral consideration
and treat them as things we use to satisfy our own desires,
the outcome is predictable.

I read that three dogs are available for adoption.

Now, imagine being an adopter, knowing the backstory as you watch them contentedly gnaw bone in your kitchen...when they stop abruptly to look you directly in the eye.

Or wake up one morning to find all 3 staring intently at you.

And you don't remember letting them in the house...
