iPhone XS survived 30 minutes in water - except Face ID

I was in a canoe in Vieques, Puerto Rico's famed bioluminescent bay when the boat took on water. I had a life jacket and was fine but was essentially dragged to shore by another boat, with the iPhone in my pocket.

We were never at great depth and I was delighted to find the phone still worked afterwards. Except: the Face ID camera seems to be toast. It can't focus, a week later.

I'm on the Apple iPhone upgrade plan with AppleCare so I should be able to get another.

All this to say, generally pleased with the waterproof qualities of the phone.

Your expectations are low. I'd expect the camera to keep working. Glad you made it back to shore safely.

Thankfully the regular camera continued to take great vacation pics. Just the depth camera is messed up. But yeah, you have a point.
