Washington Potomac Area People Indigenous Team's cornerback Josh Norman fulfilled a dream by taking part in the running of the bulls in Pamplona, Spain, this week.

Video shows Norman leaping over a bull inside a bullring during the event.

Afterward, Norman posted videos on his Instagram stories, saying a number of times that the experience was "crazy."

"I had to face the bull straight on," he said. "It was fun. It was worth it. It was really worth it."

Norman also tweeted a photo from the bullring.

He's a college grad so he has that to fall back on. Plus he received an Honorary Doctorate of Public Service, not to mention a few years of making some loot. I guess he can take some chances. He's a baller.

An experience that's best done drunk...

From what I understand, the route that people run takes them past a military hospital, so if you get gored, help is right there!

He’s 31, has a net worth well north of $15 million. Yeah, I’d agree.

The spark to do the “insane” needs to be fanned once in awhile. I doubt there will ever be anything other than a large surplus of the careful. But the slightly twisted vision that leads you to sit your butt on a tower of high explosives taller than the Statue of Liberty so you can walk on a big space rock and maybe make it back alive? We need the crazy.

And to get a yield of worthwhile crazy the seed needs to be spread up and down the spectrum, from eating a Carolina reaper whole to eating 71 hot dogs in ten minutes to jumping over bulls to jumping out of an airplane at twenty thousand feet into hostile territory to running into burning skyscrapers instead of out.

We’ve all seen the posters, so I won’t say it again here. big grin smiley

NFL players only have a finite amount of time they can play the sport. Unlike MLB and NBA contracts, NFL players are not guaranteed salary in the event of not being able to play. When he retires, which is in only a few years, jump all the bulls you want. If it were me, I would try to get as much money while playing football as I could. Those paychecks don't come forever and one does not stay young forever.

I have to wonder if we haven’t become at least a little dollar sign drunk in this culture. No, the checks don’t come forever, but with just a little caution — considerably less rare these days, than in the past — and your parachute turns gold right sharpish.

If he were to retire today, at 31, with half his current estimated net worth, that would put him on the beach with $10,000,000. Walkin’ on a high wire, one side’s diamonds, the other’s rubies.

And if you manage your money well post playing days? Aspire to Magic Johnson or Michael Jordan. Magic worth $600 million, MJ worth $1.9 billion.

Some athletes live to live large. There was a documentary ESPN did called “Broke” that talks about how players blow through millions of dollars. Names I can recall are Curt Schilling, Bernie Kosar, Antione Walker, Andrea Rison.

Bookmarked it to watch this afternoon.

I’m not the Sports Center watching fan I used to be, so I could be off base, but I have/had a sense that athletes have been getting more savvy than in the past handling their money. Not on the Jordan/Magic level, but at least not so often on the ‘glad to be a greeter at a Vegas casino’ level.

But I’ve been sucked into binging “Ballers” as a guilty pleasure lately, so maybe I shouldn’t trust my instincts right now. big grin smiley

Some athletes live to live large.

But that really should be done while living smart.
