Before retiring as an industrial journeyman carpenter, I used a Stanley 30' LeverLock. I must have a couple dozen tape measures, (they were always passing out free stuff at work) but the LeverLock has always been my favorite. They have changed them a bit, but here's the style I used:

Don't even remember how it came to be in my possession - I had no idea that these things had collectability to them.

Blankity Blank, ya big tease!

Mine is one like Rick-o's except vivid green instead of red.

OMG, we had one of these in the family. It was mom's favorite. I think it died in the 80s. Probably new in the 50s - maybe 40s

Got it from my neighbor after her husband passed. From what I researched it was made in '52. She told me to take anything from the garage I wanted, I don't think he had any tools made after the mid 70's. I took the tape and a few small things at the time but when she passed several years later I ended up taking more than I really wanted or needed. They had a daughter that died in her 20's and no other living family. Standing in the garage after her funeral it hit me that the last 40 years of their lives were in that garage and if I didn't take some stuff it would all get tossed like they never existed. Ended up bring a pick-up box of odds and ends into my already overstuffed garage.

I got this tape measure in the mid-'70s. I commuted in the Phoenix area via bicycle at the time, this was one of the treasures I found alongside the road to fill my toolbox.

Found lots of wrenches and screwdrivers, my favorite is a nice large crescent wrench. edit> That crescent wrench worked really well with a bicycle freewheel removing tool to get the freewheel off.
