Motorist on runway drives into Tampa Bay
ST. PETERSBURG, FL (AP) - An Elderly motorist confused an airport runway for an interstate highway and drove straight into Tampa Bay, police say.
Firefighters training nearby saw what happened and pulled 87-year-old Jack Comiskey of Chicago and his Winifred, 78, to safety from their rented car in neck-deep water.
"physically, except for being underwater for a few minutes, they were not seriously injured," said police officer B.H. Stockburger. "They were just an elderly couple who got lost"
