Is there a graph of Wealthy vs total Wealth?

Suppose you have 100 people and you rank them from 1 (poorest) to 100 (richest). That would be the horizontal (X) axis.

On the vertical axis you add up the total amount of money, of that individual and all the individuals poorer than him (all those to the left). That is your Y axis.

If welath was almost the same (say the poorest had 99.9 dollars and richest person had 100.01 dollars), then this would be almost a straight line at 45 degree. But in reality it is going to be a very different shape.

So I wonder if there is a graph like this for US and other countries, or perhaps for the entire world

my google fu is weak tonight and I don't even know where to start.

Draw a circle. Put a little dot in the circle.
The dot in the circle represents the wealth owned by 99% of the world population
The white area in the circle represents the wealth owned by 1% of the population.

If you missed it, try our income-rank quiz. Today, it’s time to consider wealth.

What’s your net worth? Take all your assets (your house, stocks, bonds, 401(k)s and savings), and subtract all your debts (mortgage, student loans, car loans and credit card debt). Come up with a ballpark figure, or go here for detailed help on how to arrive at a realistic number. Don’t worry, we’re not recording your responses.”

one thing I am not sure if that article factored in was when you purchased your home, and what your mortgage payment is.

My monthly payment that started in 2002 gets me a great home with lots of off street parking, 2 garages and 2 kitchens. That same payment now for a 30 yo gets you a 2 bedroom appt rental. And an average one at that.
