FU: Snakes in the Drain!

FU to this thread [forums.macresource.com]

Thanks all for the comments and suggestions. I couldn't get to it yesterday since we had to take one of the kitties to the Vet with a pee-hole problem. (For those of you that care more about kits than clogged drains, she'll be fine after a dose of antibiotics).

I bought the 25' snake that was suggested and did the deed. About 20 feet in I hit a blockage. I plowed through and for now, all appears good. I ran the shower and the sink with no backups in the toilet drain. I had to reprimand her when she mentioned that she flushes the Clorax cleaning wipes. That was what I pulled out of the drain. Don't flush Clorax or any other brand cleaning wipes.

When I removed the toilet the other day, I noticed that the wall was a little wet and the valve didn't shut off all of the way. I suggested that the wall should be opened up to see if anything is leaking and causing the damp drywall and to replace the valve while doing the work.

She asked if I can do it...Project for another day,

Once again, thanks all.

Glad the snake worked, you don't need one often but always handy to have on hand.

Congratulations ! You can now add Snake Wrangler to your resume.

Next up... Main Septic Cleanout power snaking with a rental model with a 100' snake and a 1/2 hp motor. Where you find and destroy all those pesky tree roots. OMG those are fun. And messy. Very messy.

Any form of 'wipes' are bad for drains.

Sounds like a clogged drain / plumbing issue.

Thanks for the update.

I wouldn’t doubt it Mr Nobody. I had to tell my daughter not to do that after she said “mommy said to flush it”. Then I told my wife I didn’t want to be dealing with clogged drains.

Yeah, I wanted to try the new 25' snake on her but my wife didn't care for the idea. Would have saved us the Vet bill.

Even the ones that call themselves "flushable". Most wipes have specific instructions on the container to not flush them.

And the hospital or minor medical visit and bill after kitty disagreed with you!

Same goes for feminine hygiene products.
