So are the displays of our lives....

Pulled the trigger and bought AOC U2790VQ 27" 4K 3840x2160 UHD Frameless Monitor, IPS, 5ms, 1 Billion+ Colors, DisplayPort/HDMI inputs, VESA

When i set it up the best resolution I could get from HDMI to HDMI was 1920x1080. Then i remembered I had a mini displayport to displayport cable and hooked it up that way. I downloaded SwitchResX, did a quick terminal command to temporarily disable macOS SIP and rebooted and now there are all sorts of resolutions. Right now I'm at 2560x1440, 60Hz and the picture is fantastic and very crisp/sharp.

So so far I'm pleased! Much more space!

That would fit inside my roll top desk.

I'm glad you found a monitor that makes you happy.

Congratulations!

Congrats. I'm running two Samsung 27" 4K monitors. I went all in by running them at full native resolution: 3840x2160. I've scaled most every app I run so that I can see everything. At some point, I'd like to upgrade to a larger monitor... maybe 32". Dell makes a 42" 4K monitor that's reasonably priced, but it's too big to fit my desk.

I've been wanting a 32" 4K (for future proofing) for my 2012 mini, as a 2018 mini is in my future.

As I just want to watch video on it and not do any image manipulation, the bigger brother of the AOC U2790VQ might fit the bill.

At $380, it's in my ball park for a decent 4K monitor.

If its just for video, wouldn't any run of the mill 4k TV work? As a monitor, would you run that as 4K or 4K HDPI ( a really nice 1080p)?

I'd rather have a decent 4K monitor connected to my mini than a run of the mill TV.

Decent 32" 4K TVs don't seem as plentiful as 32" 4K computer monitors.

The AOC has a hub that TVs probably won't have. Also the base of a monitor makes it more space friendly for me than the legs of a TV set.

The goal is to watch 4K content, eventually.
