I want to add a hand held shower to my existing shower.

I want to replace the 2.5/2.0gpm shower head and a flow control valve (also with a 1/4" passage) with decent shower head. I took Muffman's advise and found a ball valve from AMZ. It won't make the cut for Architectural Digest, but it's good enough for the girls I go out with.

To add a handheld shower head, I need something line this Delta unit.

However, it also has a 1/4" passage and would really restrict the water flow from the shower arm.

Does anybody know of a similar unit that doesn't restrict or at least not nearly as much as the above would?

Mister, that's a ten-gallon hat on a twenty-gallon head.

I've seen a bunch of dual head units, and I could comment on looks and versatility, but don't know squat about their flow rates and internal diameters. Our building's old pipes have such crappy pressure already, that it doesn't matter, so I didn't bother burdening the brain with those details. But props for pursuing such a worthwhile endeavor. I bought a brushed nickel/stainless unit close to three years ago, and haven't gotten around to getting it installed.
Good luck.
