Bobcat removed from inside Oregon school

Authorities were called to an Oregon school where a bobcat was found wandering the building while classes were in session.

Staff members at Oak Hill School in Eugene said students were on campus Tuesday when a bobcat was spotted wandering inside the building.

The wild animal was closed up inside a room and authorities were summoned to the scene.

The feline was removed safely without injuries to human or animal, officials said.

They euthanized it? Did it develop a taste for humans or something? Why couldn’t they take it to the wild?

The sheriff deputies captured the bobcat and transferred to the Oregon State Police
Fish and Wildlife Division.

Based on the abnormal behavior of the juvenile bobcat and in consultation with
ODFW wildlife biologists, OSP euthanized the bobcat.

Another bobcat was captured outside of the school, "likely the sibling of the first bobcat" .
Unlike the first bobcat, the second animal may be a candidate for a fate other than
euthanasia.

"Options for the bobcat include release back into the wild or placement at an
accredited wildlife facility for long-term captivity," ODFW said in a statement.
"If the juvenile bobcat is found to be diseased or otherwise unhealthy, it may be
humanely euthanized."

Oak Hill School is a private school. Their student diversity program does not
include bobcats big grin smiley
