Disappearing frozen concentrate fruit juices

Don't know how widespread this is, but over the past year or two frozen concentrate fruit juices of any brand have virtually disappeared from all area stores, especially the larger chains.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I only look once a year (for Thanksgiving), but I've noticed that the area they take up is really small, thus hard to find. I didn't look this year, but my friend did and couldn't find any. So maybe they have disappeared, or are just really hard to spot.

Also, didn't about 1/3 of the orange crop get ruined by freezing?

The grocer probably has a higher margin on the juice cartons, and it's more convenient for the consumer. I'm not sure if Millennials really buy into reconstitution, but the marketing of those condensed things probably needs to speak to their environmental aspect, as it's much more Earth friendly to avoid transporting the water part of the pre-made stuff.

This summer, my wife and I looked for frozen lime concentrate, and couldn't find any. We also couldn't find lemon. In fact, other than a single can of frozen orange concentrate, there was nothing. This was not a problem at our local stores in 2018.

Bottling for retail probably has higher profit margin than the frozen crap.
Aldi's/Wally's have 2qt. fresh (nfc) for < $2.

I still see it at Publix. I haven't bought any in years though.

Anthoni Rossi pioneered frozen concentrated orange juice in 1947, soon afterward he founded Tropicana. In the 1970's Tropicana was using a special train that was a mile long to take 1 million gallons of frozen juice north to New York several times a week.

I grew up about three miles from Tropicana in Bradenton, the smell of the place permeated the who area. You either loved it or gagged on it.

Local markets have a small sample priced at the same or higher than the bottled equivalent.

I wish I hand some frozen orange juice concentrate in deep freeze.

I got out of the habit of buying it; maybe I just got lazy.

Buying by the carton is just too expensive as I'd go through it rapidly.

I didn't use to drink it much until I got an InstaPure water filter.

Just the basic filter (I don't think they had the better v2 back then) took out something in the otherwise tasty tap water we have here, and suddenly orange juice was delicious, so close to fresh squeezed.

I wonder what the calorie content is on 24oz of juice per day.

It's 84 grams of sugar, and 360 calories.

Far too much.

Perhaps Walmart may still carry frozen orange juice?

My understanding is that Walmart was instrumental in the switch to concentrated laundry detergent. The company found it much more efficient to ship concentrated over liquid.

Our Brita pitcher filter takes out the iron and chloramines, and tea tastes completely different. No doubt coffee would too. I know in tea, the iron reacts with the tannins and it is nasty, in my opinion.

84g of sugar is a lot, but a boy's got to get it from somewhere.

I can't depend on Frosted Flakes alone to exceed my RDA.

360 calories isn't all that bad.

I burn that walking to and from McDonald's to get my Quarter Pounder Deluxe and Large Fry.

Really the only reason I walk and workout is so I can keep eating all the good stuff that's bad for me.

Huh.

Maybe it's iron that reacts with the ascorbic acid in orange juice.

The first time I made it with filtered water (on a lark) I thought Minute Maid was lacing the concentrate with crunch.
