Do you poke a small hole at the large end of an egg before making hard boiled eggs?

When cooking hard boiled eggs...

There are some who say that this allows bacteria to enter, but from what I understand, once an egg has been washed, it loses its natural resistance to bacterial entry.

Then there is the issue with shells cracking when boiling. I personally don't really care one way or the other about this.

Depends on your cooking needs. I like soft boiled and the spaceship is way more consistent than boiling.

I've been thinking about getting a cheap egg cooker.

Unlike many kitchen gadgets, it would actually get used.

1 dozen eggs (or whatever number)
1 cup water
5 minutes in the Instant Pot
5 minutes slow release of pressure
5 minutes in cold water

perfectly cooked and the shell falls off.

Same here, although I can't for certain recall when the last time I boiled an egg was.

Now I've got a hankerin' for tuna salad with lots of boiled eggs cut up in it...yum smiley

This summer I was smoking a brisket at 200F and thought what would happen to eggs? I put 6 in for 1/2 hour and took them out.

Solid cooked, the smoke penetrated about 1/8 inch. Delicious. Next time will do a whole dozen.
