iPhone 11 owners - is the camera really that awesome?

Also, is upgrading to the 11 Pro to get the Telephoto worth doing?

Wait for some future v12 ?

Thinking of getting one for my wife, because she's all over the photography and video. She currently has the 6S.

Thanks for any real world experiences of it.

11 is much better than XR for photos. My SIL is all about IG and FB. She loves it.
The XR takes good photos, but having the extra lens/options makes it better

That wide angle lens is the business.

One thing to keep in mind is that 5G compatibility will come next year.

The night mode and wide angle lens are easily worth the extra $100 compared to the Xr!

My son has a Pixel 3a. We did a ton of direct image comparisons in a series of light shows etc this break.

We compared these side-by-side photos by casting them to a nice HP 4k monitor.

Hard to say which is better, but the iP11 is arguably as good as the best google delivers (the Pixel 4 is not a major camera update over the 3).

No question the iP11 is FAR better than the iPX, which my wife shot in parallel.

iPhone 11 - night mode is the killer use. 11Pro - wide angle lens, and you can get the smaller form factor if you like.

I would not hesitate to recommend the 11 over the XR. It's also a processor jump.

Not sure how this is relevant for camera performance?

I say the 11... its a steep premium for one extra lens...

IF shes really into using the iPhone everywhere, Id take the savings and in invest in some Camera apps -- imho, would be money better spent. Or if shes really moving into video -- consider a gimbal, its essential kit, and not that much $.

Or perhaps some Creative Live classes -- they often run specials and I have found them pretty informative...

The 11 is way better than the XR. I had both the XR and 11 and it is night and day. Battery life is also significantly better on the 11. Definitely worth the extra money.

i have the 8+ and I like having the telephoto lens. There are times when I want a different perspective, or when I want to take a portrait where the telephoto comes in handy. I find it more useful than the super wide angle, which is one reason why I haven't jumped to the 11Pro. At this point I think that I am going to wait until the fall and see what the iPhone 12 will be like. I've read that it will be a bigger update that what we had this year.

I love the 'shot with iPhone' videos that I have seen, quite impressive what one can do with the iPhone. [www.youtube.com] [www.youtube.com]

At my daughter's gymnastics competition over the weekend most every parent was using a cell phone with a notch to take photos/videos. As my daughter was going from one event to the other, I was moving around the entire perimeter of the gym, so I had a pretty good look. In the entire crowd I saw MAYBE three cameras. Definitely under 5.
