Brownie McGhee & Sonny Terry singing 'Spread the News Around'

I have this on my gigantic playlist that runs in my car... puts a smile on my face no matter what is going on. Not many songs can do that for me..

My parents played these guys' music when I was tiny.

I like "Walk of Life" from Dire Straits or "Love Walks In" from Van Halen(gar)

San Antonio, TX (in the old city)

"All that is required for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke
“Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented." - Eli Weisel

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." - Theodore Roosevelt (1918)

"I don’t want to see religious bigotry in any form. It would disturb me if there was a wedding between the religious fundamentalists and the political right. The hard right has no interest in religion except to manipulate it." - Billy Graham 1981

"Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise" - Barry Goldwater

I remember an interview with Don McLean who said that, after "The Saga Begins" (Al's STAR WARS/American Pie song) came out, he would catch himself singing verses from it during practice and at shows, mixed in with his own original lyrics.

It's spelled " y'all "

For me, it's "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" by Tears for Fears; pretty much ever since I first heard it in Real Genius.

Blind Melon's "There's No Rain" is another, but because of a memory of it being used in a commercial for "Monk" where we see Monk in a dream, walking in his perfect world of white picket fences, perfectly symmetrical gardens, and identical twins. (I've never been able to find the commercial.)

Pharrell's Happy is a favorite of mine for a bright mood.

I'm thinking there's another song more recent, of a similar light, happy tempo, but I can't place it.

There are a couple of instrumentals, equally pleasant while not as peppy, that put me in a happy mood- Herb Alpert's Rotation and Ponch Sanchez's (with Clare Fischer) Morning.

Valdez in the Country, both Cold Blood's and Donnie Hathaway's versions are always a treat.

Auqa de Bebe is a nice, happy song for me.

I love Kate's Sensual World album. I'll have to give Hounds of Love and Big Sky a listen.

Auqa de Bebe is a nice, happy song for me.

That's Agua De Beber

In its original Brazilian heritage:
1963
1965
1966

Speaking of tunes Brazilian, THIS is my sure-fire upbeat song...

Yes, a few gray cells slipped their cogs.

Something seemed out of place and missing, but I was in a hurry.

I've always liked Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit in the Sky" for a quick pick me up. That song never fails me.

"Three Little Pigs" by Green Jelly- [www.youtube.com]

Cracks me up every time I hear it.

Trivia Fact: The falsetto pig voices were supplied by none other than Maynard James Keenan, who later formed Tool.

In a similar vein, "Get A Haircut And Get A Real Job" by George Thorogood And the Destroyers- [www.youtube.com]
