And a factory in China that just flipped the "on" switch on their Model 3 assembly line... to serve the largest single market for EV's on earth.
Market do, in fact, likey.

'm not a stock watcher these days and when I just took a glance at my list for the first time in a few weeks, I was FLOORED at TSLA. I think it was at $350 last I saw.

It's 52-week low is $178. I bought in at $267.
I expect another foray under $350 before it goes above $400 "for keeps".

The dance moves were horrible though....geeks in charge shouldn’t dance too publicly (unless of course they’ve got skill).

I wouldn’t touch the stock market with a ten-foot-pole right now. It’s nuts, but is unlikely to stay that way.

I believe that this is primarily a 'short squeeze'. The people shorting TSLA sold contracts to sell the stock at a price that they expected to be higher than the actual price at a later date. When that date rolled around they found that the stock had actually gone up. They are obligated to sell stock that they don't actually yet own, so they have to purchase the stock at the market price and now sell it at a loss. As one of the most shorted stocks ever, many in the stock market got burned because of their short position in TSLA. They started buying up the stock...this drives demand, the people selling it know that the shorts are obligated to buy it at market price now, so they hold out for a higher price, this drives up demand even more, along with prices...short sellers have so far lost $8billion+ on TSLA because despite their best efforts to drive the share price down with FUD, TSLA has gone up instead. You reap what you sow.

every short seller eventually has to buy - I never understood why short selling is such a bother to long holders.

It's when the Short sellers use lies and deceit to try and drive the stock price down that it gets annoying. When insiders do that to drive the price UP, it's illegal...

Plus it can very well drive an otherwise viable company into bankruptcy. To this day idiots claim even SpaceX is a fraud. They barely survived into profitability. Imagine if they were a public company. The shorts would’ve eaten them alive. And we would’ve been left with ilk of Roscosmos and ULA.

stock manipulation is not legal and those shorts STILL have to buy eventually.

Wait... isn't this the guy that told the world that he had arranged a buyout at 30% above the current price and was flat out lying? What was his penalty again? How much jail time?

IIRC, a $20M fine, no jail time.

And that's also why both Elon and Gwynne Shotwell have said that SpaceX will NOT become a publicly held company. I think Elon is more of the "over my dead body!" opinion....

And lost his position on the Board.

Also, he paid the fine by buying back $20m in stock.

Exaggeration but one they will keep for their folk lore. The ‘tent’ was just a rapid pre-fab that is good for 50 years...

As I understand it, Elon’s financial backers backed out of the agreement. He wasn’t lying but he couldn’t pull it off without them. And no, he shouldn’t have said anything about it. I think he was trying to show the SEC just how much of a double standard they were enforcing. It was ok to publicly lie about Tesla to drive the stock down but if the same thing drives the price up you get slammed...primarily because it hurt the people lying about the company to drive the price down.

Not so fast... it's at $513 now.
I'm more interested in what it'll do in the next six months, rather than the next few trading days. NOT that this hasn't been exciting as a shareholder, mind you.
