airprint question

set up airprint with my MBA WiFi (no router or modem). Took a little doing but it works and all the other guests work too.
Can an iPad airprint direct via wifi or is it not possible because the iPad has a rcvr only?
How about a cell by itself?

huh? iPad can send and receive, just like an MBA.

Same with a cell phone.

couldn't get the iPad to work by itself with airprint.
I'll have to try again.
Cell, I figure it's just a question of finding the right driver.

i have two networks coming off my router. if you do also make sure the ipad and the printer are on the same network. i print from my iphone and ipad easily.

That network issue is something that requires attention, I have found. I run both 5.0 and a 2.4 networks. Some devices only work on 2.4 so if I have some set to each one, they don't recognize each other. Simpler to just use the 2.4 for everything it seems.

there is no router or modem here. everything comes via cell.
I'm looking to direct airprint from the cell or iPad without the need of a cellular "hot-spot".

figured it out, the setting is somewhat hidden.
You bring up a doc and tap the share arrow icon at the bottom right, then scroll down to print. If the airprint enabled printer is on, it should show.
