Another As Seen at CES: STM ChargeTree wireless charger

The STM ChargeTree takes up a lot less space than various mats. It's limited to charging only one 'Phone at a time so it's not fun for the whole family.

The small footprint suits me, as does the integrated Watch and AirPod charging stations. Its design provides set and forget positioning, similar to just placing on a mat, no fiddling.

A little pricey at $80, it may get discounted by the time I get a wirelessly charging 'Phone.

From the link:
"Plugs into power with a USB-A to USB-C cable (1m cable included)"

Why an A to C cable? Why not just go C to C? I wonder how fast it can charge all three devices simultaneously.

Probably because USB-C is not ubiquitous; USB-A is.

I've seen a number of new products including both a USB-C and USB-A cable.

At some point, it'll just be USB-C.

I remember when USB started to catch on, printers stopped including any cables.

It's been so long since I've bought a printer, I assume they come with USB (Type A/B of course) cables now.

Yeah, I'm getting to the point where I'm only buying USB-C or TB3 enabled stuff, similar to the point where USB-3 was creeping onto the scene.

Agreed.

I've seen a few gizmos I'd like to get but as they're micro-USB, I can live without them.

I recently bought two great little BT speakers that were on sale, but a still a little pricey than so many others. But they had a USB-C connector and that was the tipping point. They shipped with a USB-C > Type A cable.

There's probably a power adapter out there that's a lot USB-C and a little USB-A. it will be in my future.
