Hi, I know I shouldn't, but I LIKE WIRES.

I keep being told WIRES ARE OLD-FASHIONED. But I find WIRES work better in many cases.

So I'm declaring my faults here!

No more wires for internet? ok, but my Ethernet cable makes my AppleTV connection better.

No more wires for my keyboard? Sorry, but my USB keyboards ALWAYS seem to work, and I do not find their wires at all inconvenient.

No wires needed for music, I'm told! I just purchased a wireless Sonos speaker, and when it works, it's fine. But you know what would be better? Just connecting as a WIRED speaker to my Mac.

I admit, I find my wireless Logitech mice seem to be seamless AND not power hogs. But most would be fine for me as wired at my desk.

Wireless headphones? Ok, ever since I discovered GOOD wireless active noise cancelling headphones, I have no interest in wired ones. Though I DO own a pair - and those work!

So I know I'm supposed to be hip and all - and I'm not QUITE a 'Boomer' - but I admit, I LIKE wires.

I find it quite amusing that there are so many Bluetooth speaker systems being marketed as "high end" audio.

I MUCH prefer wired over wireless myself. Wired is faster and more secure. It also uses less power so batteries last longer.

I'm firmly GenX, but also predominantly wired:
Ethernet
Headphones
Keyboard
Mouse

I do use an infrared wireless remote control, though; I'm not a cave man.

Watching the kids with $500 headphones plugged into a phone loaded with podcasts and .mp3s just makes me smile and shake my head.

Same era, but a firm NO to wires. barf smiley

Dumped an entire 6 gallon rubbermaid tub to goodwill not long ago -- filled with ethernet, USB, coax, FW and a dozen other who knows what cables -- so long screwy.

Same here. My current computer came with a wireless Apple keyboard and mouse. The keyboard was okay as non-extended keyboards go, but the action was too much like a laptop keyboard for my taste. The mouse was a shameless battery hog. The most infuriating part, though, the part that made me mothball both of them and go back to good old reliable wired keyboard and mouse, was how they'd both inexplicably lose the Bluetooth signal occasionally, even though both were no more than 18 inches from the iMac to which they were connected.

I use a lot of BT because it's more convenient than wires.

But at some point I'll decrease the BT and add more wires.

A wired keyboard and mouse are pretty essential to troubleshooting.

Restarting into the Startup Manager is nigh impossible with BT kit.

Love me some copper- stranded, twisted, shielded, even tinned on occasion.

Also a fan of higher frequency electromagnetic communication in many cases. Wouldn't go back to a wired phone, and my iPads don't have an Ethernet jack, and (like S. Pupp) I do enjoy a nice infrared remote.

I am NOT a fan of BT, especially for speakers. Lord knows I tried. I finally found a BT speaker that actually sounded decent, but the incessant cut outs of sound made it impossible to listen to. The speaker is only about 8 feet away from the computer, but every few minutes, the sound would freeze for a second or two.

Bought a pair of BT headphones... the sound on them was awful, AND they cut out too! Not quite as often as the Kicker speakers mentioned above, but often enough to be annoying.

I will admit that I have a BT keyboard. It will, on occasion, seemingly miss a few keystrokes. But it's the only BT device I use.

Recently eBayed my wireless Apple keyboard and went back to my wired Apple keyboard. And my friends laugh at my wired single ear-with boom mic headset that I use 100% of the time with my iPhone 6s. And while I keep my Mac Pro's wifi on, it's also connected to an Ethernet cable that snakes across the floor to the wall plug, all because the speed is 30% faster.

Yeah, I'm still a fan of The Wired.

(and I love my wireless Logitech mouse!)

Wired mice and keyboards definitely. I've been satisfied with wireless BT in the car, Roku, headphones, and a Pioneer bookshelf's BT system.

The one place that disappoints the most is our Vizio soundbar's wireless subwoofer. Verrrryyyy clear-LOS dependent, even in a small room.

Wired is superior in Internet, Music and Keyboards/Mice. Don’t get me wrong, wireless is nice, especially in headphones and keeping your work area neat and clean.
Keyboard/Mice-little lag, troubleshooting.
Music-no compression
Internet-speed and stability

My son was excited when we put a Cat6 drop in his room. Doubled the speed. Made him punch the connector and make a few cables with a crimper (learning experience).
The orbi mesh improved Wi-Fi, but it’s just faster with Ethernet especially with AppleTV

Using an Orbi setup in our house (which there's no way I can hard-wire), I'm able to get the full speed on my subscription (about 350 Mbps) at each computer (even one story up and through a number of walls) thanks to the Orbi's dedicated backhaul. It's a great feature which puts the Orbi far & away from the competition, IMO.

But you never know what wires you'll need when...

Why, just this weekend I uncovered two Syquest drives and 4 honking big 200MB disks. Hmm I wondered, what old backups are on these? Well, I hooked up my trusty G3 tower (of course it's running OS 9.2.2, you think I'm some sort of Neanderthal running OS 7.x?) and of course my box of legacy wires had just what I needed: A nice thick SCSI cable, centronics and DB50 dontcha know, AND a terminator! That cable requires some muscles to angle it where you want it. G3 booted right up and the disks mounted just fine.

Nothing compares to wandering down memory lane with 22-24 year-old backups!

They each have their advantages. I like wires for more mission critical things, except for mice. For mice, I prefer wireless, but NOT BT. Give me a Logitech wireless mouse with their unifying receiver. Always works, where BT is really hit or miss.

BT is flakier than it should be.

It's improved over the years, but still needs work.

BT, more and more, is being referred to as 'wireless' and not BT, until one carefully reads the fine print.

To add to the confusion, RF is often listed and we all know BT is RF as well.

But non-BT RF protocols are generally far more reliable, even though they usually require a dedicated, propiratary dongle that uses up a USB slot.

And I find my Mac don't wait up randomly with a wired keyboard and mouse attached.

So I prefer a wired keyboard and wireless mouse, with a wired mouse connected and hiding in the shadows.

I find military call signs for pilots to be pretty funny, and they're always something that the person doesn't like. If you complain too much, your buddies will give one that you hate even more. I recently heard about a guy whose first name is "Ben". His call sign is easily guessed...devil smiley
