Edit: whoops, my error, this turned into a debate, not what I was intending. Apologies, and deleted.

Ha, I do my best to ignore most of it. Obviously failing in this instance.

Agreed. Which is basically "you are assigning some point of view that is not what this is about.

There's also some Red Herring. Which is: "We agree that the thing you're bringing into this topci (death of soldiers and loss of freedom) is horrible, but irrelevant and a distraction from the topic (someone won a primary)."

"Someone named Nikki Haley" was governor of South Carolina and Ambassador to the United Nations for the first two years of the Trump administration.

Her statement involves an unstated, but commonly-understood, assumption that socialism is a form of tyrannical government that would destroy the freedoms that our soldiers fought and died for.

The implicit logic is that if you elect a socialist, you are also electing to destroy that freedom. There is no logical error. One may disagree with the unstated assumption, but that is a question of fact, not logic.

I could agree it's a question of belief. Her belief is that socialism leads to loss of freedom, or that it's tied to wars and soldiers, or fill-in-the-blank. These are beliefs. But not a question of facts. She's not stating facts. Facts are 2+2 and the earth is round.

Disagree- that’s the fallacy of the omitted middle. You inserted the middle of the syllogism, which is more than an assumption.

Proper logic: People voted for liberal socialists. Liberal socialists want to give our freedoms. Therefore they want to give up our freedoms.

Omitted middle: People voted for liberal socialists. (omitted middle)Therefore they want to give up our freedoms

OK, I'll grant you the Fallacy of the Omitted Middle of a syllogism. Except that if the middle term is commonly understood, it is permissible in ordinary speech to omit it.

That is just slander on several levels, and will doubtless throw this thread to the Dark Side of the Forum.
