Valentines Day Disaster Averted

I know I’m way late to the party, but I just discovered this trick yesterday:

Midday, I reached deep into my underwear drawer to pull out my stash of emergency greeting cards. No Valentines! My heart sank at the prospect of running to the drug store to join all the other clueless husbands rummaging through the remaining piles of too-saccharine and too-expensive cards. But after a moment, I went online and found that I could put together a custom photo card with a personalized message for a little over 2 bucks, ready to pick up at Walgreens in an hour. My wife was pleased and it saved the day for me. What more can you ask?

C'mon, we all do it. Don't try to pretend you hide your greeting card stash somewhere else.

I keep a selection on cards on hand for mailing to friends and family members. They come from the dollar store so it’s not expensive. Anniversary, birthday, get better, sympathy etc. Major events for my wife I get more expensive cards. I do not keep any cards in my underwear drawer. That should be good news to the forum members that h@ve received cards from me. :-)

I find a note scrawled on our bathroom mirror with a dry erase marker and a new sequined Victoria Secret bra on the counter for her, all waiting for her to wake up never fails.

But I suppose a card is nice too. big grin smiley

WTF? Did you lose your Man Card? Or were you forced to relinquish it? Or are you just lying to us?

My wonderful wife deals with almost all cards that we send, all I need do is provide one for her birthday, Valentine's Day, our anniversary and Christmas. For the last few years we have had a few days away in October/November and Sarah takes the opportunity to find a few Christmas presents in shops we haven't been to before. I take the opportunity to find those four cards for the next year and they are then stored away in my desk. This was this year's.

My wife told me she wasn't going to buy me a card this year since she found the one from last year and stuck it to the fridge. I usually make a personalized card with one of my photos, I took her to see Los Lobos instead.

I hate most cards.
My husband and daughter know not to get me cards.
They are overpriced and most are awful.
I do like some of the funny ones, but still think they are basically a waste.

Get me chocolate and write on it with a Sharpie. Money better spent. grinning smiley

I lucked out. After the fiasco mentioned in this thread [forums.macresource.com], I awoke to my wife getting dressed for work. I wished her a Happy Valentine's Day and the first thing out of her mouth was "Sorry. I didn't get you anything." I replied "Thank God" and proceeded to tell her the story about the $8.99 card. She'd much prefer the extra drink at dinner. smiling smiley

If it makes you feel better, I keep my cards in the drawer marked CLEAN UNDERWEAR, not in the one marked DIRTY UNDERWEAR.
