“Actor-singer Kenny Rogers, the smooth, Grammy-winning balladeer who spanned jazz, folk, country and pop with such hits as “Lucille,” “Lady” and “Islands in the Stream” and embraced his persona as “The Gambler” on record and on TV died Friday night. He was 81.

He died at home in Sandy Springs, Georgia, representative Keith Hagan told The Associated Press. He was under hospice care and died of natural causes, Hagan said.”

Oh NO! He lived a couple miles away. We used to see him at the local deli. Such a nice man. I'm so sad about this.

He knew when to hold 'em, knew when to fold 'em, knew when to walk away, knew when to run.

RIP Kenny, and thank you.

I liked the early, hippy Kenny Rogers better than the later, country Kenny Rogers. He had a hell of a career though.

R.I.P. Kenny

… And the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep.

Hopefully, his final transition was an easy one. RIP, Kenny.

I heard a story where Kenny bought out a music company and when reading through the papers discovered he now owned a contract very unfavorable to the artist he now controlled. Kenny called up the artist and told him he had torn up the contract.

I came to this thread, just to see if someone took the easy, "he knew when too fold them", and yes there it was.

I remember when we were in Vegas and he was in a Lounge show behind us, where we were playing Blackjack. The First Edition.... "What Condition my Condition Was In"
