Previously known as Demolition Derby. Is this different?

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

In banger racing, looks like there's some semblance of racing. In DD, I think they just slam into each other.

Folks who enjoy this type of racing may also enjoy the 1973 film “Steelyard Blues” starring Donald Sutherland and Peter Boyle.

Some of those cars looked way to nice for that.

Last car rolling.

Hamster Ball looks like fun for kids.

À-propos of nothing, I saw this clip at the end of the Hamster Ball video.

It's the first time I've seen this much of it, and not in HD.

Makes me LLOL and POMTL every time.

Jaguars and Volvos are not unusual. I’ve seen a Jag XJ-S. There are a few Rolls Royces too. Big American iron seems to be popular, but 60s era Chrysler Imperials are banned.

You win by completing a set number of laps. Sort of like regular racing.

I was scrolling through channels on Sunday and came across Virtual Nascar Racing on Fox Sport. it had a live announcer calling a video game race with actual NASCAR drivers competing remotely. Wierd.

But it was apparently well received and Fox committed to showing the entire season of it

60's Chrysler imperials ? Just way too much steel ? I still remember my '72 Newport. Multi ton rampaging beast with a huuuuuge engine.

OK, the way some of those cars split in two, they must all be reclaimed from regular road accidents and were totals.
