Today's ALDI Shopping

Forgot to report earlier.
Only shortage to report was no hand sanitizer. Not unexpected.
Plenty of produce, baked goods, meats, seafood, dairy, paper goods, & frozen foods. Store was extremely clean, employees wearing gloves & most with masks.
And, unlike several 'big names' like Giant Foods & Safeway, no price gouging!

Asparagus $1.79/pound,Dole Lettuce $1.29/head, banannas 43¢/pound,
80/20 Fresh (& delicious) Ground Beef $2.99/pound.

Bought gas @ Marathon $1.80/gal. saw Costco was @ $1.75 !
...back to the bunker old fogey smiley

We went to our local grocery store today and the only thing on our list they were out of were paper towels. Plenty of everything else.

Going to Aldi today. Last week they didn't have toilet paper nor sanitizer, but everything else looked fine.

may I ask of the lot of us, as we shop and post, what is found in short supply, and your approx geo area.
If we see where normalcy exist, perhaps that will help during the 2nd wave

Last I went, Thurs, still very little paper, flours, pasta and related, dairy and chicken, except TJs which had decent dairy and chicken. Produce has been pretty good.

I just saw headline that stockpiling behavior is beginning to ease. YMMV of course.

Might be worth it to drive into Nassau, It's not too bad here. Gas is pretty cheap, so it might be worth your while to make the trip. It helps to not shop at supermarket chains with a big presence in the newspaper circulars.

Have been to our Aldi's twice in 3 weeks and no eggs or toilet tissue and very few canned vegetables.

I'm a little ticked at Aldi's for changing their Almond Milk/Juice. There's no longer a choice of
sweetened or unsweetened, just original or vanilla. I only drink original unsweetened. I found
out I was lactose intolerant about 2 years ago after a year of some serious digestive issues.

is there more than one Aldi available to you? i have access to several but mainly frequent two. they aren't stocked the same which i have to keep in mind when i shop sometimes. one is more upscale than the other. the one in the 'hood' doesn't stock challah, for instance and has a much smaller selection of cheeses.
