Walmart is about the only place to shop here.

I haven't looked personally, but my stepdad said the local Walmart near him was nearly devoid of soap.

Fortunately I took advantage of a good sale on the wholesale-sized bottles of Neutrogena body wash in obnoxiously strong fruit scents some time ago so I'm good for a while.

If you're curious, the Pomegranate flavor is super strong but pleasant and the whole bathroom will smell like faux pomegranate for hours afterwards, the Pear flavor has a significantly lighter aroma that fades away much more quickly, and the Plum flavor I have yet to use but based on a quick sniff test it should fall about halfway between the aforementioned two.

What brand? The closest Walmart* implies they have most brands to place an order to pick up but about 15% of package sizes are out of stock.

This morning I was going to place a pickup order at Walmart for tomorrow morning and was surprised to see they had Dial Antibacterial Bar Soap, 12 count for $5.97 - they also had the Irish Spring brand.

Finished choosing my items and when I tried to choose a pickup time, there were NO time slots for today or tomorrow. I've NEVER seen that before.

Can't comment on the current situation, but I noticed 8 or 10 years ago that bar soap was getting harder and harder to find. I'm partial to Coast, and lots of supermarkets and big boxes don't stock it any more. I guess the kids don't use bar soap.

I used Coast for many years, had to stop using it when I moved to Savannah because of the extremely hard water there, and couldn't consistently find it here when I moved back so I switched to other brands.

Plenty of bar soap here. Liquid soap is a little low. Hand Sanitizer is still non existent.

Last week...
Picked up a 4-pack of Jergens for $1.69 @ supermarket, plenty in-stock.
Dollar General was stocked too!
Also got a gallon of Novo Foaming Anti-Bacterial Soap for $12 @ Restaurant Store.
(Good stuff, equals 75¢ per 8oz bottle refill.)

Haven't been out in a week, going to Food Lion in an hour!

EDIT: After my last visit to Wallys, I won't be going back anytime soon!
Waste of time!

Literally one small drop of Dawn dishwashing liquid does a GREAT job for washing hands. I expect other dishwashing liquids would do well too.

Should be plentiful. Younger people (unlike us here) don't use bars of soap.

I just realized I'm low on both bar and liquid soap.

Bar soap is for the shower, liquid is for both sink and shower.

I also need shampoo.

If there's a dry window, tomorrow, I'm going to try a Costco run.

Do you know any of your local soapmakers? Most I hear about are making plenty of soap. Real soap will cost more than a cheap Walmart detergent bar, but will do your skin a favor, for sure, as well as help support a small business.

In Florida where I am, seems like every office building has a resident soapmaker or two, and probably most USA city offices are similar. If you don't know a local soap crafter, there are many, many, many that sell online. Etsy will overwhelm you with choice.

Some independent makers I am familiar with (although this is just a tiny sample of what's out there):

In Australia - [soyandshea.com.au]

In Indiana - [www.treemariesoapworks.com]

In Maryland - [www.unclejonssoap.com]

In Michigan - [www.royalappleberry.com]

In Missouri - [moriversoap.com]

In Nova Scotia - [www.shalebrooksoap.com]

In Quebec - [www.lafilledelamer.com]

In Texas - [www.royaltysoaps.com]

In the UK - [futureprimitivesoap.co.uk]

In Washington State - [www.bearfootgypsysoapco.com]

I know of two in Africa that aren't taking orders right now, due to lockdown restrictions.

They all ship pretty much everywhere. Some make a wide array of other products, such as shampoo bars, liquid soaps, lotions, bath bombs, wax melts, and so on.
