The Brits seem to have redefined what constitutes a mansion.

The Brits seem to have redefined what constitutes a mansion.

A mansion is still a mansion however mansions has been used to describe a block of flats or apartments for well over 100 years.

From what I've seen, and please correct me if I'm wrong, the British use of the term "Estate(s)" is different from the US one as well. In the US "Estate(s)" usually refers to a neighborhood of nice or at least nicer (3 bedroom/2 bath or larger) fully-detached homes with yards whereas in the UK it refers to council housing, frequently of the multi-story apartment style, some even what we in the US would refer to as "projects".
