Gas Prices

[Central AR, outside of Little Rock] IF YOU REPLY, BE SURE TO SAY WHERE YOU ARE.

One station in the area, when I went to the post office yesterday (I have a PO Box; I go about once a week nowadays), was $1.04, which is the absolute lowest I've seen yet.

With his Kroger discount, my son said he filled up for about $0.44 a gallon a few days ago.

Most stations around me are now at or just under $1.00 a gallon: [www.gasbuddy.com]

Regular stations are about $1.78

My Kroger discount was $0.50 when I went to top off. It usually doesn't get that high, but since I'm not driving and buying more food, it has built up.

The flip side, is that I only needed half a tank, so I didn't want to use it all. I usually fill up when I get close to empty.

I probably should have, since I think the points expire.

Rumors of sub $1 gas just above the Illinois border. I may just go for drive tonight and go fill up my tank, even though it is ¾ full anyway. Cabin fever starting to set in.

We're hovering here around $3.60 per gallon in Truckee, CA.

Fortunately, my last fillup, with Safeway rewards, in Reno was $1.74 a gallon, well worth the 45 mile roundtrip.

That said...pre-quarantine between Mrs Markintosh and myself, we drove a average of 600 miles a week. We're now averaging about 6 miles a week.

Central Michigan.

Average is $1.63. Prices range from $1.29 to $1.95.

Have you seen the meme circulating? It says we're averaging about three weeks per gallon. That's almost accurate in my case.

I probably should have, since I think the points expire.

They do; the full FAQ goes into detail on about every question you could have, but here's the expiry talk:

Fuel points earned in the current month will expire at the end of the next month. Fuel points do not combine across months. Each month is a separate accumulation period. Fuel points earned in separate months cannot be combined in the same transaction. Click here to view a fuel point expiration chart.

They don't make it easy, don't make it simple. They'd rather they expire than give them to you; make no mistake. My son said he just got into the habit to always use them every time he goes so he doesn't lose them.

A few stations just under $3, but most still a bit over $3 in central coastal L.A. County, SoCal.
Similar to Zoid's kid, I used Ralph's/Kroger rewards, but w/ the discount here, it was still a bottle of Two Buck Chuck more than the Zoidlet paid.... but that was still a heckuva deal in these parts (except we didn't get the wine for the Mrs.; a big portion of what coulda been wine, goes to our taxes).

BIL told his sis, spousal unit, that he snagged a tank at $1.60/gal in southern coastal TX yesterday; best in a long while for him.

I drove over to the next town, Houghton Lake, MI and it was $1.28! It's about 15 miles away, and .31 cents cheaper. Go figure.

Gas prices are insane. Keep in mind the prices include Federal Tax of 18.8 cents per gallon, plus whatever the state tax is (Texas is .20/gal), so the real price of gas is $.60. At that rate gas production will tumble as well, then prices will start spiking, probably as this current crisis starts to subside!
