.....$8.2 million.......

INDIANA MAN WHO RECEIVED STIMULUS PAYMENT FINDS $8.2 MILLION IN HIS BANK ACCOUNT

.....An Indiana man has described his shock after seeing that millions of dollars had been deposited into his bank account while he was waiting for his stimulus payment.

Charles Calvin is a volunteer firefighter in New Chicago and one of many people who have already received their one-of payment from the government which are being issued amid the economic downturn caused by the coronavirus lockdowns.

Speaking to WGN 9, Calvin said he was expecting to receive $1,700 from the payment. However, after withdrawing $200 from a Family Express ATM, Calvin checked his balance saw he somehow had $8.2 million in his account.

"Holy crap, this has got to be wrong," Calvin told The Times of Northwest Indiana while describing what he thought when seeing his account. "I'm like, 'What in the world is going on? There's no way I have $8.2 million in my bank account.'"

When he spoke to his bank on Monday, they confirmed it was an error and his actual account balance was $13.69. The bank suggested that the ATM machine he used is printing out the wrong balance on its receipts.

Calvin said the problem needs to be fixed as otherwise it could make more people worried.

"It scared the hell out of me," Calvin said. "I live paycheck to paycheck to paycheck just like everybody else. I'm a volunteer fireman. I can't have no bad look on me and on my department."

Despite not having $8.2 million in his account, Calvin said if it were his that he would have shared some of it with the local community.

"I just want to do right by my town and by myself. I've got standards and I'm not going to bust that for nobody," Calvin said. "I want to be upfront and honest and a good-standing citizen in my town."

Calvin said the bank later told him that the figure is no longer seen on his account, but his $1,700 stimulus payment had been deposited.

"It kind of sucks," he told WGN 9. "You go from being a millionaire one second then back to being broke again. But hey, once you're poor you don't have anywhere else to go but up."

The Treasury Department expects a large majority of eligible Americans will receive their checks within the next two weeks.

Eligible taxpayers will earn up to $1,200 for individuals, $2,400 for married couples, and an additional $500 for each qualifying child.

Which would be theft.

No, it would not.

Calvin said if it were his that he would have shared some of it with the local community.

I'd generously share the money with Chevrolet in exchange for a new Corvette.
