I'm stimulated!

We received our stimulus deposit today, but I already transferred mine to my son. He needs it more than I do but didn't qualify since he was a college student dependent last year. I felt it only fair to give him mine since I received a small tax benefit from claiming him in February, not knowing it would disqualify him from the stimulus.

I've got one of those cases between the cracks. My student graduated last year so this year, 2020, will they no longer my dependent. It would not help to try to change their status for last year because the benefit lost would be more than the stimulus. They will benefit a little from the suspension of student loan interest, but just a few hundred bucks.

My son and his roommates got theirs over the last few days via direct deposit.

They're holding onto it since two of the three of them are out of work now and there's no rent/utilities moratorium in place.

We also received ours today...and we are also giving it directly to our son. His business in event production was just gaining ground when things went to poop. Two major music festivals canceled and several weddings postponed. He's going back to work in his old landscaping job next week, but even that is shaky.

Meanwhile...we got a $2350 repair bill for our truck yesterday. We are very fortunate that we have some bucks in savings to cover that and still pass on our stimulus checks to our son.

$3400 here, I have no idea why. More Hookers and Booze I suppose, if any of those stores are still open.

A little disappointed that the ACH transfer will lack the president's name on it that a physical check would include.

I'd consider that a plus.

All he did was approve the work done by congress. It should have Nancy Peolosi's name on it...

$2400 for us.

Kids too old to get the extra $500 each...I turned to the one still in college and asked "so what use are you now?"

It’s everybody’s own decision, but I hope people will consider donating all or part of it to those who are hurting right now. Then they can do the stimulus spending! :-)

I filed in January, so I was hoping to be in the first batch. And there it was this morning.
Please don't collect it back in the form of higher taxes in the future.

Payment Status Not Available... ugh.

Not that we *need* it. I only took a small hit business wise this last go around... offset by new work. Was hooping the new work would give us as boost... but just kept us about normal

When my next business cycle happens -- in late May/early June -- thinking that will be the litmus test for me...

LOL--we've been running deficits since forever. As I recall there were maybe 3-4 years of a balanced budget in the last 50 years. It has just gone crazy since 2008. Somewhere it has to be contained (maybe not stopped...). There are a couple of ways of dealing with it. We could repudiate the debt (that seems unlikely as long as the world keeps turning on it's axis). We could inflate it away (that seems more likely). Or we can raise taxes on you and me. That seems much more likely to me.

I think this is a temporary "loan" from the feds!

I'm currently working on my 2019 taxes, taking advantage of the extension. I would have to imagine those who filed 2019 are first in line, with the next batch going to those who filed in 2018 but haven't yet for 2019.
