I, for one, welcome our Siphonophore Apolemia overlords...

I saw more detailed stories of this in other places, too...

The giant Siphonophore Apolemia is a deep sea predator made from a floating colony of tiny individual organisms that cloned themselves thousands of times to make the longest animal ever recorded

Scientists are still working to measure it accurately but have estimated its length at 150ft.

DP,

Misleading in my opinion. It's a ginormously long colony of single-cell organisms instead of one ginormously long single organism like, say, the blue whale. Still impressive, though.

In a way, we are all colonies of single-celled organisms. That many of our cells would likely not survive on thier own without the resources provided by other cells also describes human civilization. Cue existential crisis.
