How many people buy more iCloud storage from Apple?
Posted by: Microman

I cant seem to get a book to go from my MacBook to the iPad in my family that are both logged onto my iCloud account. My iPhone says it cant backup, since my 5 gigs are full. So should I buy more storage, or should I figure out how to download and delete from iCloud my photos which are taking over quite a bit of the storage.

What do most people do so they can share things with their other devices buy not hit the limit. I really don't need my photos on the cloud and I don't need to backup my phone to the iCloud, as I do it on the MacBook, but wondering if I should just figure out how to download and delete the Photos from iCloud to give me lots more room, and maybe then the books will appear in iBooks on the iPad?

Do you go for just the .99 cent a month upgrade, or Larger, or Family thing. Since wife already pays the .99 cents...

pCloud for me.

Does not integrate as well as iCloud, but my photos and music and documents (in encrypted folder) and PC software are all in pCloud. I did the one-time payment for lifetime access to 1TB.
It can back up your photos automatically, but it takes a few seconds to see each photo. As long as you have access to wifi or cellular data, you can stream your music.

When scanning with my iPhone using Turboscan, I save the scan as a pdf straight to pCloud, then delete the scan from my iPhone.

I did use iDisk, which integrated somewhat better with the iOS for backup purposes, but after it lost all my data, I stopped using it.

I buy extra and share with the family. All iOS devices are backed up as a result. The Macs get backed up to drives, but I encourage (yell a lot !) the kids to at least back up their documents to the cloud. Most of them use Google docs now.

Each of us are coughing up $.99 a month. It seems perfectly reasonable.

By the way, I use Google Photos for their free storage and so don't back up my photos to iCloud. It automatically goes from my phone to the Google cloud.

99 cent plan here. Managing only 5 GB of space is just too much hassle.

We went all-in on the family sharing plan. Best online storage price around, and supports 5 people in my family for the $10/month. 2TB.

Im not sure how this is relevant to the OP, but cool?

Another 99¢ user here on a couple of devices. Could go with a family plan, but the 50 GB per account has been fine.

iCloud is a fire an forget backup. Ever lose/break/whatever a phone, iCloud has you covered.

$3, worth every penny versus the danger of one of my wife's 10 gazillion cat photos getting deleted.

I never did until the 200gb was required for HomeKit cam recording, because 5gb was enough to back up my phone.
Since the price of any drive equals years of extra Gb, I was willing to do the .99 for the convenience, but never exceeded the limit.
Now I’m using 7gb, but will definitely use more when I add the computer into the scheme.
And the 2.99 is a bargain for the Circle cam in HomeKit haha...

By the way, it should be really easy to exclude photos from the backup.
In iOS13 go Settings/yourName/iCloud/Manage Storage/Backups/This iPhone and switch off your choice of data.

I don't use iCloud at all, or any cloud service for that matter. Wait, I do have a dropbox account, but I use it maybe once every year or two

Did the 99¢ for years. Just bumped it up to the $3 plan. Just too damn lazy to cull my photos.

Started off free, then went to $0.99 then to $2.99 as I had a work issued 16GB iPhone 6s that was full really quickly. After my daughter got her iPhone as well as my wife, we decided to go all out and get the 2TB plan, as we wanted to do family sharing. I don't regret spending the money, for us it is well worth the ability to share photos, to see photos on all of our devices, to share other things, to know that backups are regular and automatic.

Having said that, I still do Time Machine and SuperDuper computer backups, I'm toying with CCC.
