A dark Willis (Sears) Tower looms over Chicago

Willis Tower (built as Sears Tower in 1974) basement flooded Sunday night, knocking out all power to the building. Among other things, the United Airlines operations center is located there—though this month they can probably handle their ops on a whiteboard. This is the third night it's stood eerily dark in the skyline outside my window. I was shocked that there seemed to be no emergency plan for the aircraft warning lights that usually flash red on top of the antennas, 1729 feet in the sky. Even if the emergency plan was running an extension cord down the side, a quarter-mile, to a generator parked on the street.

Nonetheless, very cool photo.

Saint Cloud, Minnesota, where the weather is wonderful even when it isn't.

There's a giant eye missing from between those radio antennas.
