Need a new wheelset for my Mtn bike

This is the bike: [www.rei.com]

90% of the time, at least right now, I ride on paved or packed dirt surfaces pulling one of these: [www.amazon.com]
I'm a big guy, 300lbs, so something strong and durable is much prefered to something light. I've found that cheaper bikes have cheaper components that don't hold up or function as well so although that bike is completely overkill for the kind of riding I do it works well for me. I kept my last bike for almost 20 years. A Raleigh Mtn bike with Shimano STX/XT components. Sold it when I found this one and it was still going strong. Hopefully this one will last just as long, most components are Deore which seems to be the mid grade level right now.

Which brings me to wheels. I probably went through 10 sets on the old bike. Once every couple years I couldn't get them true anymore and picked up a new wheelset. The set I have on this bike isn't nearly as durable. Maybe due to the 29" wheels size? I get maybe a couple 20-25 mile rides in before they have to be trued. Not seeing a lot of options out there, I do NOT want tubeless which rules out a lot of wheel sets. Wondering if maybe going to a 36H hub and rim will make it stronger, or just another higher quality 32H setup?

I consider wheels for heavier riders to be a 'specialty' sort of thing which is odd but whatever. I suggest asking over here - [www.bikeforums.net]

How much are you looking to spend? I have a pair of 29" wheels I'm trying to sell. They would need new end caps to fit your bike, and those would be $30 or so. You'll probably need a different freebody as well.

They're nearly new. They are not super light, but they are gravity rated. They'll hold up.

Oh, and you can run tubes on tubeless rims just fine.

They're not who they once were, unfortunately. They got bought a long time ago but failed when their parent company tried to merge them in. The brand was sold to some other company, and that's what you see today.

Yea, I didn't see squat on their website. I ordered most of the parts from my old bike from them. Nothing lately.
