wifi speaker ?

my Anker, like everything else RF, is affected by the seasons.
Though it was working great a few weeks ago in the exact same place, it's now subject to intermittent drop outs.

Has anyone a sub $100 wifi speaker to recommend?
I don't need smart, it's just to throw music from downstairs upstairs.
Wifi would be better as I have a remote wifi router there.

Have you connected the speaker to any other devices? If you have, it could be connecting to all or some of them simultaneously. My greatest frustration is that there is no easy way to tell a Bluetooth device that this is the device I want to connect to. It will connect simultaneously to my phone, iPad, computer, kindle tablet, watch, etc. then it randomly picks and chooses between them causing dropouts. I can go around to all the other devices telling them to disconnect or to forget their connection to the device but that’s a pain to do every time.

A couple of weeks ago I would have recommend my Anker Soundcore 2, but I have been having problems with them (I have two). My main one won't connect to my older receiver with an external BT transmitter after I connected once to headphones.

I have 2 Anker SC2 too (that's a lot of 2). It's been fine, but it is at the very end of it's reception range where it is. Wifi is in the room.

Getting to of either speaker apparently get stereo reproduction.

Nice.

Not that common with BT speakers.

Generally you can connect to only one speaker at a time.

Is latency a problem with WiFi speakers?

All my BT speakers except the Braven Minis have some latency that makes them useless for video.

That may or may not be partly the fault of my 2012 mini's BT.

The range of BT products connected to the mini is short even for BT, and not without more dropouts than I care for.

I wonder how either of these speakers would fare as a stereo pair over WiFi for watching video on the mini.

Latency is not an issue with the IKEA Sonos speaker. But our internet gets glitchy with our cable company, which is annoying (and would impact any wifi speakers).

Latency is not an issue with the IKEA Sonos speaker.

Because..?

It's a WiFi speaker, right?

As far as every other speaker goes, I just ran my HomePod through VLC and my 2012 mini and sadly, latency raises its ugly head.

Since there's no wired option for it, it's out for watching video.

Put it on it's own router?

I’ll check again, but latency was not an issue when using the Sonos speaker for video watching.

Sonos has soundbars and other wifi-based sound systems with latency not an issue. I thought I'd mention that this was not an issue when I did my earlier testing with the IKEA Sonos, or to use with Zoom or other video conferencing. We have a good internal wifi network, the issue is our cable provider.
