Eyetv problems

Eyetv v.3.6.9 on my Mac Mini (macOS 10.11.6) had worked for me to display and record TV programs for at least a decade. Now when I startup the program all I get is a "no signal" message. Can anyone give me any hints as to what I should do to get it working again? Thanks.

There is no tuner involved. It is over the Internet.

interesting. How does that work?

I tried Silicon Dust at some point, and I never got it to work right with eyeTV. I think I was doing something wrong. I bought a cheap TiVo with lifetime service 5 years ago for $400 total and it was totally worth it. Skip ads saves a lot of time!

Look in the Controls menu.
Choose the correct input again from the selections at the bottom of the menu.

It might have switched to a different input choice.

Are you using this with your cable provider?

EyeTV 3.6.9 (7521) and subsequent removed the ability to interface with HDHomeRun tuners (the single or dual tuner versions; never compatible with 4-tuner version). Find EyeTV 3.6.9 (7520) to use. Supposedly EyeTV 4 brings that capability back...

I don't think so. EyeTV dropped support for Silicondust tuners.

How, from the DirecTV receiver? Has it recently had any software or firmware updates pushed to it from AT&T/DirecTV. That may have changed how the receiver communicates with the WyeTV software.

The whole EyeTV product line and software was sold to Geniatech a few years ago. On the software side they have mostly concentrated on devices they can support in the European market. They do finally have an USB based device for the US/Canadian market, but it does not have support for connecting to encrypted cable. At least they have not removed most of the former hardware from support in the current releases of EyeTV 3.

MikeF - where have you seen anything about a version 4 for EyeTV?

Here:

scroll towards the bottom and in the list of compatible peripherals, the HDHomeRun is shown.

My setup is three 2-tuner HDHomeRuns tied to a older mini running macOS 10.8. Don't want to deal with upgrading it to 10.14 to run EyeTV4.

Oh, that's why I could not find it. Only listed on the European site, not mentioned at all on the site for the US and Canada markets. So no idea if they are even considering selling the software here.
