iSam iAm; I do not like the new Apple design language

I do not like the new iPad Pro design language, and I say this as an owner of the 11".

I do not like the 'leaked' iPhone design, even tho it follows from the glorious iPhone4 design. Why not? I want my iPhone to be easy to hold, and the flat sides are a total ergonomic miss. The iPhone 4 and 5 are ok because they are SMALL. A 6 inch flat sided iPhone will be slippery.

Those are bad, but what I really find ridiculous is the proposed design to the iMac.

For example: [9to5mac.com]

I do not need my iMac to be super thin as I hardly EVER look sideways at my iMacs. I do not worry about measuring the size of the bezels, even though I look at this aspect of the machine all the time. I am ok with the 'chin' that shows the Apple logo.

What I DO care about is thermal throttling of the CPU, lack of accessible ports, quality of the display, quality of the discrete GPU, speed of the RAM, accessible RAM upgrade options. All of these function tend to be compromised by Apple when they go all out for 'flatness' or 'thinness'.

Ok, rant over. But I wanted to say this before Apple pulls out a real looker of a machine, and we all forget that the price we pay for such svelte aesthetics is a working computer.

That article is about a proposed update right? No one knows what it really looks like yet - right?

The prioritization of form over function has long been a complaint of mine.
Rant approved of, and appreciated.

It's an extrapolation from past efforts and using the latest icon 'leak'.

I always preferred the squared sided iphone to the slippery curved ones that started with the six.

Piet Mondrian’s idea of artistic progress seems on par with Apple’s.

Taking it further: The latter can be used as a floor tile, and an obsolete MBP (too little RAM or too small an SSD and not upgradeable) can be used as a door stop. It would be nicer, though, to have something more functional in either case.

I don’t know, though; I’ll run the floor tile/door stop thing by my wife.

Can't we just split the difference a la Mark Rothko?

It is what it is.
