AAPL Milestone for me

Today my shares of AAPL have cumulatively appreciated by more than 1000%. I started buying around 2000-01 collecting about $100 worth per month. I quit buying when it exceeded $100/share. I've sold some over the years, but it still represents a disproportionate percent of my portfolio.

If my math is correct, I'm up 15,374%. Significantly disproportionate percentage of my portfolio, but not because I bought so much compared to other stocks. Had my other stocks done nearly as well, it would have been balanced. Although had I bought as much as I wanted and not what my spouse felt comfortable with, we would have been retired by now. Hindsight is 20/20.

Mine has split 14 to one, and I bought at $16.

Back in 2014 when the stock did the 7 split I had an "freind" with with 4500 shares that became 31500 shares.

No idea what shes doing now... but damn, hope she never dumped it.

Thats $11M in stock. smiley-shocked003

I also started buying AAPL back in 2000. I wanted to start a few years earlier, but didn't have an online trading account and kept dragging my feet.

I've done very well during the past 20 years. The dividends are now icing on the cake. Some of them went right back into buying more AAPL, but I've also bought some stuff I normally wouldn't have.

I suspect 2 trillion valuation will be here soon for Apple. This juggernaut is unstoppable!! smiley-shocked003

I bought the bulk of my AAPL stock during the 2008 financial crash. During my lunch break I ran over to a b/m Scottrade location with a check in hand to open an account smiling smiley

Up 24,800% for me. Which is handy, because that was going to be my "Mid-Life Crisis Car Fund", and when I bought a couple dozen shares my wife joked that I wouldn't be able to buy a used Fiesta for what it'd be worth.

So not only will I be able to buy a sporty car, I get to imply "told you so" whenever I show her the latest AAPL price.

I sold half my shares every time it doubled in price to take my profits. So I'm in pure profit now. If I'd held it all it would be worth about 4 times my retirement funds.

Oh, I should add that my wife (a PC user) thought I was crazy to buy anything from "The Beleaguered Apple Computer Company".

I stopped saying told you so. It just caused more issues.

What am I holding on to it for at this point? I'm 60 and not the best of health. Not that I'm on death's door or anything (AFAIK), but when should I cash it in and have some fun with it?

Might as well cash in your chips now. AAPL is at/or close to all time historic highs.

<Sigh> I sold my long held 233 shares because I needed the cash for a vehicle in 2007. I think it was at about $25/share. A couple of years ago I managed to accumulate over 600 shares but sold when the market declined in early 2019. I bought ‘safe’ Proctor and Gamble. I sold my PG and today I have 239 shares of AAPL. I think I’ll hold onto those rather than keep screwing myself over.

Man -- 233 shares after the 7 spilt X $350 today would be a cool half mil.

Are you folks going to hang on through the massive recession that's coming? I'm curious how many people are planning to buy phones and ipads in the next couple of years.

Do you remember the buzz and hype surrounding the release of the original iPhone and then the iPhone 3G? Everyone just had to have one. 1 million sold in the first weekend. Yeah. That was during the "too big to fail" recession. Those were dark times.

So, aapl was unaffected, during those "recession" years? Since I'll assume you know this to befalse, why are you insisting?
