432 calories for 3.02 miles. That can't be right.

I took a walk and that's what Runtastic told me. Average speed was 4.1 MPH. Maybe if I weighed 450 pounds.

Apple Watch tells me I get about 100 calories per mile under "Active Calories", "Total Calories" is always a higher number.

That's a bit high, but not too much.

I prefer to watch what I eat/drink and read a book.

I walk so I can watch what I eat and drink.

I watch a lot.

4.1MPH is about 14.5MPM.

My preference is a more sedate 20MPM, a casual 3MPH.

That sounds about right, if not high, 3 or 4 miles isn’t far for walking. It’s called low impact for a reason.

I'm not sure if the image will be visible or not, but here's a screen shot of a 3.5 mile run I did with my wife. It included a 1/4 mile cool down walk at the end. I'm slow and fat, but getting less fat and not quite as slow. It was 515calories for jogging that distance. I'm about 215lbs, 5'10". I'm overweight but fit.

Screen shot didn't work. Here's the facebook post.

I haven't used Runtastic with walking for a long time. I do a lot more biking.

I knew there would be a difference between biking and running/walking but I didn't think it would be that big. I think I could do 10-12 miles on the bike and not burn nearly as many calories.

Wheels and low rolling resistance makes cycling use much more energy efficient on nearly flat terrain. However go along a long upslope, you will find running, walking and cycling will use similar amounts of calories over the same distance.
