any good leads on small LED flashlight at eBay?

have an eBay coupon that expires today.

Looking for a small LED model that uses a single AA battery. Maybe around $10-$15. I found a nice ThorFire AA model from Amazon that has worked really well for me, but I don't see it anywhere on eBay.

Short of just picking out random options that show up in the search results, any "diamonds in the rough" for me to consider?

Olight I1R EOS $14.95-
[www.ebay.com]

Olight iE3 EOS $9.95 -
[www.ebay.com]

I have both, and they work really well.

Stepping up a notch is the Olight i3T EOS for $19.95
[www.ebay.com]

At it's brightest, it's quite bright, but that cuts down the battery life substantially. I use it at work for diagnostic checks behind dark cabinets and looking closely at equipment.

::Edit:: I didn't see your battery requirement. The i1R is USB rechargeable with a built in battery, the other two are AAA battery types.

Olight is a good brand, assuming the eBay one isn't counterfeit.

thanks, those look just perfect. I'll probably end up with the iE3, though the i3T looks like it would be a really nice upgrade, too.

Thanks for helping me avoid those $5 "tactical" flashlights :-)

I'm pretty sure the linked items are from OLight, the storefront is called olight_direct and the description says 'Olight Official Store'.

My advice... buy one that takes AA bats. AAA's are the worst, and many use strange non-rechargeable bats.

I bought one similar to this a few years back (from China) it may be bigger than you want, but I use the 'cob' light all the time.

Someone gave me one of these over two years ago, still going strong with the original battery.

that looks like a nice one (also available on eBay from a different seller for about this same price). Because it takes 4 batteries, I think I will pass on this particular case, simply because this flashlight is for a kid and I want to keep battery consumption to a reasonable minimum :-)

I don't really like the look of that one. For this use case (for a kid), I think one of the previously suggested Olight models will be the way I go.

Clay,

This one may seem pricey but I gotta say, the ThruNite Archer 2A V3 is fabulous:

Top pick from wirecutter and I have to agree with their assessment. They're budget pick, which is nearly within your price range, is the mini maglite pro.

Here's the article, specifically the section where they explain why they avoid cheaper flashlights:

<[www.nytimes.com];

Based on my experiences, they are spot-on about what they're saying in this section. That's why I said heck with it and spent the bucks for the ThruNite Archer 2A V3.

I'd recommend an AA based light as well.

As it's for a kid, I'd shy from top rated brands in general, even if the kid is very responsible.

We all lose things, and kids are generally worse at doing so.

That said, I have three Olights, thanks go a Forumite.

One is the little USB light, the other is the E3 that was free from Olight, for shipping.

The third is the Olight Seeker, which is a terrific little light.

All three have excellent, wide beams, and are very well made.

I'm not crazy about Olight's business model, though.

I missed out on a sale for the Warrior Pro X, and it may never happen again.

Not crazy about the name or style of the head of the WPX, but it appears to have great range for its size.
