I was able to get in a 5 and 8 mile run. Supplemented this with 3 upper body lifting workouts. Sugar intake could have been better, a lot better.

Six walks, 23 miles.

Walking does not seem to help me to lose weight.

First trip back to the gym on Friday. Trainer wore a mask and carried a wipe down cloth. I wore a mask between devices. We have been meeting once a week via FaceTime and while that kept me in the game, it just did not feel right to the point where my enthusiasm was seriously waning. It felt good to get back to the machines. Gym was busy, but not crowded so it was possible to keep distance if one paid attention to doing so.

Discovered that my covid weight gain that I measured in the spring had more to do with winter weight clothes than with an actual problem. Weight is in my arbitrarily set preferred range but my belly is a little more prominent than I would like.

A walk yesterday along the Ohio Riverwalk took us farther than my wife could manage so I had to leave her and walk hurriedly back to the car to rescue her. I was thinking that there was more shade along that route but the 90º sun proved me to be quite wrong.

Unless that girl is pumping aluminum, that's fairly impressive.

If I need a spotter, I'll call her, but stand on the other side of the bar.

She can get it up for me anytime.

My exercise plan has done well this year, seriously started when disgusted at 218# this past February. I have had a good run at riding my bike this year - 900 miles so far for the year with good eating has yield the following results: (being retired has helped too...)

02-19 218.0#
02-29 216.1#

03-31 212.9#

04-30 208.2#

05-31 204.4#

Now bouncing around 200#

06-26 202.3#
06-27 200.0#
— Goal achieved, was set for end of July.
— Goal is 190# for December 31 Expect rate to decline to more like 2#/month now.
06-28 199.2#
06-29 200.7#
06-30 ???.?#

Eating habits of not eating out (which I did a lot) has been zero since March. So, eating at home with much healthier choices was absolutely essential for the above goal. I have a nice gym in garage, time to start incorporating some moderate weight training too.

Weight all measured in the morning first thing. All bike rides are a minimum of 16 miles (which I can now knock out in 58 minutes).

I was able to get in a pair of bike rides over the weekend. Both were 5-7 miles, but one was on flat gravel trails, the other was on the side of a mountain. The latter took 90min to ascend and 15min descend.

Walking does not help you lose weight, I am living, walking, and expanding proof of that. Your legs will be in better shape, though.
"3.4 mi"/day last week, better than nothing.

It also takes 30% longer to cover the same ground as jogging.

I am looking forward to being allowed to go jogging in the fall.
