What brand "Underwear" for a 15 year old???

Help!!! Right now he has Hanes Ultimate ComfortFlex Fit Boxer Briefs. He needs "the next size up" but wondering if another brand would be best for a teenager? I'm seeing a deal on Fruit of the Looms 8 pack for $13 at amazon and thinking of moving over to another brand.

He's ASD / Asperger's and seems like the other kids most of the time but really don't want him to be comfortable before entering 9th grade (you know. locker rooms).

My 15 yo wears Jockey boxer briefs - the performance fabric or whatever it's called. He hates the cotton ones as he says they get swampy.

I've been a fan of FTL (Fruit of the Loom). They just feel more comfortable. Hanes was my least-liked brand.

I wear Hanes boxer briefs. Tried FOTL a couple of times...they always had a stitch in them that jabbed into me that made them uncomfortable to wear.

I don't like the "performance" fabric and prefer cotton. The performance fabric is supposed to "breathe" but (sorry to be graphic here) to me they kept the "junk funk" smell in rather than than out.

Seems like asking a bunch of 60 year olds is the wrong thing to do...ask him or take him shopping.

Do NOT install a video cam in a local locker room to figure out what the other guys have.

Wicking is good, anti-swamp, but yeah, they can get funky. I wash mine twice.

Poor kid is already socially awkward and doesn't need me helping / worsting the situation. All we know is that his are "TOO TIGHT"... So, shopping for the kiddo... Guess I could get a couple of different kinds and find out which ones he likes.

I don't know if this is an out of bounds suggestion, but has he ever tried boxers? I wore them all through high school, loved the variety of fabrics available, never too tight, etc.

What size is he currently wearing? Buy a three-pack one size up (you might get TWO packs; one pack ONE size up, the second pack TWO sizes up). Relatively small purchases that will let him actually see what size fits best.

I prefer cotton, and Hanes over Fruit. I try to get them from tjMax or something instead of Wally’s... they seem better.
But last time TJ was out of Hanes or Fruit, so I got Levi’s instead, and I’m liking them. They have ample jewel room.

Most of the companies are using S,M, and L now and the right size is harder to find than when they use specific sizes (30,32,34, etc.)

Suck up the cost. Nothing - literally nothing short of an online message - is returnable these days.

They are a little more expensive, but both I and my 18 year old son wear Duluth Trading.

They do go on sale frequently and you can get some 'Clearance' ones on the cheap to try them out.

They 'wear' much better that std undies and l have seen them lasting longer by a factor of 4-5x longer.

I would suggest you check them out.

I used to buy Fruit of the Loom but discovered I like other brands much better.

Maybe buy some small packages of various brands and see which he prefers.

My current preference is Kirkland Signature 96% cotton / 4% spandex from Costco.

Stanford brand from JCPenney’s.

Those were my daily drivers up to a few years ago. They raised the price and lowered the quality. What a fantastic business decision! RollingEyesSmiley5
