Watching it now....wow! It is worth getting for a month to watch Hamilton - $7.45

No subtitles but we haven't figure that out yet. Probably worth getting the libretto to read because I doubt that the subtitles would keep up!

I can't wait for the DVD because I will buy it!

....they may not release on DVD [ it would cannibalize ticket sales when the Broadway show comes back ].......of course, they might.......

I think they will at some point, at least I'm hoping...I don't want to subscribe to Disney + that long to rewatch it.

If nothing else I will see it on Broadway regardless of the cast because it would be awesome in person.

Is Hamilton a limited run on Disney+? If so for how long?

Watching with subtitles - awesome. We saw live in Chicago, seeing the Broadway show with subtitles is fantastic.

Why are subtitles needed?

Why are subtitles needed?

That seems like a silly-ass/personal question.

But as a general answer:

some people hard a little hard of hearing in their later years

some people may have endured a hearing lose in military service, work injury, or other misadventure

some singer's elocution is sometimes wanting

the sound engineer may not have been the first choice or had an off day

It a fasted paced program, trying to read subtitles might detract from the program.

It's all a situation.

Subtitles are extremely helpful because the rap is very rapid.
First watch we used the subtitles quite a bit.
Second watch we used the subtitles much less and concentrated on the action, finding we had missed much action during first watch.
Dynamite show that is worthy of every award it ever receives.

I saw it live after having listened to the sound track.

Watched with subtitles, realized I was missing even more.

I will watch again without subtitles, when I can fully immerse myself in the experience.

Hamilton is a once-in-a-generation production that may define our era.

So very glad they released it THIS YEAR. We need it.

I am used to some of rap’s speed but the material Hamilton covers is quite dense in detail. Done over serve all hours, one’s mind probably doesn’t comprehend it all. A review with lyrics showed me how much I didn’t fully comprehend.

sekker pretty much nailed my situation exactly. Oh yeah, plus I watch nearly everything with subtitles, even though I use hearing aids. There's a lot to miss.

I watch stuff with subtitles often because of poor elocution and sound engineering.

Even using great headphones or earbuds doesn't help in many cases.

I'm always curious about the source of the content for subtitles.

There are great subs and lousy ones.

Closed Captioning is usually the worst.

It very often gets spelling and capitalizing wrong.

I think some errors are the result of the sub supplier getting a copy of the script but the actors missing a word or two here and there because the subs often show words not even mouthed.

Paul, I meant no disrespect.

I equate Subtitles with a foreign language or unintelligible dialect. I think of closed captions for hearing difficulties. What confused me is why a broadway production needing subtitles since that would not be available in the theater.

Went to a Carmen performance specifically for kids with my kids...English "subtitles" were projected on a screen set above the stage.
