advice: don't try to find while drunk.

Construction is about to go vertical at 450 Eleventh Avenue, a 487-foot-tall, 531-room hotel from Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide in Hudson Yards. Designed by DSM Design Group and developed by Marx Development Group, the 43-story tower is one of several new high-rise structures sprouting up around the Jacob K. Javits Center.

I'd hate to be in one of the buildings facing it.

Too shiny.

There are consequences to building like that.

The size is illusory. It's actually made of stacked cargo containers. Stacked by Snoop Dogg.

Drunken Sailor Motifs.

Yeah, I'd shorten that to DSM Design Group too, if I owned that company.

Inside, I suspect the layout will actually be quite ordinary and repetitive. The variation is only a few inches on the perimeter of the floor slabs, all for the sake of novelty.

Right now, I am predicting:
  1. Will not be completed on time.
  2. Construction costs will be markedly over-budget.
I do not envy the crews employed to build it.
(Exterior panel hanging is going to be a beeatch!)

I'm surprised that they still have funding to construct it. My guess is that hotel occupancy rates in major cities will be down for the foreseeable future.

I'm hearing that a ton of the AirBnB operators are going kaput, and real estate prices are tanking as a result.
