and every time I do something, this damn laptop is asking me to enter my password. Even moving things to the trash, and emptying the trash. WTF? This wasn't a clean install, I updated 10.11, and it did NOT do this before.

Sounds like it may be a permissions issue on your drive.

My MBP came with Sierra loaded on it. I'm seriously considering updating to the latest OS even though I don't really want to since Sierra is starting to become a problem when it comes to newer software. Why did you only upgrade to Sierra?

Was at 10.11 and Firefox went to an ESR update channel and the browser started to render pages like @#$%&. Hoping to get back on the regular update path with a newer OS

On a mid 2012 i7 MBP. 16 gigs ram and a SSD. whats the most stable these days 10.14?

Latest version of FireFox (78.0.2) runs on Mavericks (10.9) or later.

Yes, but the next version with full normal updates needs 10.12 .9-.11 end up on the ESR road.

Sites like fine under Safari and Chrome. So it is a Firefox thing under the ESR track. 78.0.0 worked fine. .0.1 and .O.2 ESR releases do wierd @#$%&.

Sounds like typical Apple security.

This has happened to me on every Mac or iDevice I've updated since Mavs and some earlier iOS.

I signed an iPad out of iCloud to give it to someone, and I had the same grief on much of my kit.

Drives me nuts.

And I update as admin.

Apple support:

'Yeah, that happens sometimes.'

Eventually, it stops.

Until the next time.

That doesn't count the almost enumerable times I enter my password and it comes back as incorrect (and I know it is) or not verified or some such.

I complained about that as well.

'Yeah, that happens sometimes, too.'

It seems when it happens, I just wait a few hours and do without whatever I couldn't sign into, or go to another computed if need be.

Then whaddayaknow.

My password is correct.

Yes, security and the price of convenience.
