Seems like last time I was able to call and get a better rate.

Is that the plan this time, or are you aware of other deals out there?

My wife’s employer provides a free subscription to the NYT and the WaPo.

Saint Cloud, Minnesota, where the weather is wonderful even when it isn't.

I set a reminder to cancel both NYT & WaPo subscriptions when my $10/month rate for each ends this fall.

I predict they'll offer the same deal ($10/month for a year) not long after I cancel.

I gave digital subscription to both newspapers. WaPo is $45 per year and you get one a second subscription to give to a friend and a new 30 day code every month to give to other friends.

An education discount can whittle the cost down to $29.95/year - just don't get a second subscription or codes to give away. The local forgot to lock their backdoor, so it's free. LOL

i pay for the NYT digital subscription.

and I am glad I do.

to me, the work that the NYT (and some other media outlets) is well worth the money.

someone above referenced free teevee news.

but those folks are about sports scores and the weather.

if you want a vibrant press, then someone needs to pay.

if the koch brothers and murdoch types are willing to pay, well then so am i.

stay well.

This. It scares me to death how few free decent news sites there are. People who can’t afford a subscription turn to free “news” sites to learn what’s going on.

we need to support investigative journalism or there won't BE any content. since i don't click on ads i pony up. currently NYT $8/month and WaPo $40/year.

I can't tell if you're serious. If so, then what are you talking about? This is about a digital subscription. It never gets printed.

And by the way, for much of your local TV news, the actual reporting is probably done by a local newspaper.

You're right, I overestimated before.

From my WaPo account:

"Current Subscription
Current Plan: Premium Digital
Current Rate: $45/1 year

Next Rate: $150/1 year"

Obviously I'll be canceling before that renewal...

Is Fox the one whose lawyers argue in court that viewers don't expect them to tell the truth and thus they have no need to be factual?
