Mouse lag

My son is off to school with his new MBP 16, external monitor, and powered port switch thanks to advice here. He is having trouble with the trackpad, external apple mouse, or Logitech mx3 lagging and being unresponsive.

Same issues with all three.
Same issues when starting and running in safe mode.

Lots of complaints on the web, but no real solutions.

I am dropping an old wired apple mouse in the mail for him to test with.

In the meantime, anyone here experience this problem and have a fix?

Thanks

Can we assume the trackpad/ext mice work fine when nothing else is connected?

Sorry, wasn't clear.

The lag is always there, regardless of what is connected.

So there must be something wrong with the MBP then. I know it's new, but I would try a fresh OS install, check for updates, if that doesn't help then Genius Bar or try to return it for one that works if you can.

I guessing that if you get rid of the logitech software, all will be well.

I concur. That's the most likely culprit.

Fresh install, no Logitech, nothing seems to make much difference.

Apple stores are closed so no trip to the genius bar in the near future. He's spoken to Apple support on the phone, which is frustrating, because they want you do follow their script and redo all the things you've already done while on the phone with them, safe boot, reinstall, etc... He will at least have a support case so when stores do open it can be replaced. Their best offer so far is for him to send it in for repair or return it, and they will ship another when they receive this one. Not really an option when he needs it every day for classes.
So for now, it's learning to live with the disappointment of a new machine that cost over 3k and trudging on.
