I get Bill Clinton a lot. I got Tim Robbins once. At a bluegrass festival once, a woman told me I looked like her favorite singer. I asked who that was and she said, "Roy Orbison." I should have kept my mouth shut.

Apparently, from the right angle I look like Chris Pine.

...By some accounts it's more like Christopher Lloyd.

One of my students claimed that I reminded her of some character Sheldon from a TV show Private Practice. Since I've never watched that show, I have no idea if it was a compliment or insult.

I don't think that's it at all, it's the person making the remark who would seem to be starstruck - not you, even if you do look like Brad Pitt or his dad grandad Paul Newman.

Steve Jobs.

I get that a lot. I wear glasses and a beard that is always trimmed short, but other than that, I don't see the resemblance myself.

I wish I had his money (or at least some of it). On the other hand, I'm glad I don't have his health.

Early 70s some likened me to Leon Russell. I had similar hair and beard but it was probably the stoned look in the eyes that was the clincher.

Not look like but my last supervisor told me that when he saw Avatar in theaters all he could think of was Sigorney Weaver’s character was me. It wasn’t until the movie came out that I got to see what he thought of me.

Over the years I noticed that some people cannot differentiate between faces all that well; to them any guy with say a full beard, looks some celebrity who sports a full beard.

Then there’s Face Blindness

I personally tend towards the Super Recognizer side, so haven’t agreed with any “you look like”s I’ve received.

I had someone say Jude Law some years back, which was pushing it. We are close to the same age, and I suppose our hair and eyes are similar, but I am a bit taller and sound decidedly less British.

So, I've been told several times that I look 'just like' Kevin Bacon, but I've noticed something curious about the comments: they have nearly all come from Black folks, mostly women. I don't think I look particularly like Kevin Bacon, but I have a suspicion that his face conveys a kind of 'generic white-guyness' that mine does, too.

I always take the compliment, in any case. He's a looker!
