Follow up on the Mac Mini internal storage

Original thread a page back: [forums.macresource.com]

Finally got the doubler kit in. Sat down at the kitchen table, in the middle of a thunder storm (literally) got out my iFixit antistatic mat, put on the geeky antistatic bracelet and went to town.

I did it! Took it apart, put in a second drive, then put it all back together. I am currently typing on a slick, fast, Mac Mini 6,1 (late 2012). This is awesome!

When I took it apart the second time (first time was to replace the old failing drive with SSD), I did notice that the Airport antenna was not connected solidly. It was connected, but not great. I am now getting awesome speeds of 100mbps up and downloading. The computer is half way in between Orbi nodes. Pretty darn good for wireless.

Now on to burning CDs to the new drive and getting the music collection digitized. The wife asked me to do this. How can I refuse? thumbsup smiley

Yay, improveLeader! I'm always glad to head when an older but still way good enough computer gets an SSD and a new lease on life.

I've been using a 2009 13" MBPro for the past few weeks for web and email and it's been well past good enough for those uses. With a 7-8 year old OWC SSD of course.
