Microsoft in talks to buy TikTok for up to $30 billion

Microsoft plans on finishing its TikTok acquisition talks ahead of the September 15 deadline set by President Trump, with a potential offer of up to $30 billion on the table.

Microsoft continues to move forward with its plans to acquire popular video service TikTok, aiming to finish up acquisition talks within the next three weeks. The deal could be worth anywhere from $10 billion at the lowest to $30 billion at its highest. Currently, it is not believed that either side has agreed upon the purchase price.

If the deal goes through, Microsoft would have one year to transfer TikTok's 15 million lines of code to the U.S., a feat that most other companies would likely be unable — or unwilling — to do.

TikTok: The reports of my banning have been greatly exaggerated.

I've never used it and don't ever see myself doing so.

But this may, on some level, be good news for some people.

Good news for the investors who were facing losing nearly all of their $$!

Not just TikTok U.S. Microsoft is eyeing the potential purchase of TikTok in New Zealand, Canada and Australia as well as the US. Aside from the UK, that's pretty much all the major white English speaking markets in the world.

You could buy half of the NFL with TikTok money.

A search on their revenues yields numbers that are all over the map - by as much as an order of magnitude.

Are they actually making money, or is it simply, "the owner says"...

I know that companies like this are bought not for the tech or the assets but for the users, but really, what does that work out to per user?

It's not really the purchase price per user, but more about what M$ thinks they can milk them for the data, and what they can get for it, over and over and over. The idea doesn't matter, it's just a way to harvest info.
